Today my baby girl turned 1. I'm really not OK with this. How is she so big?!

She didn't get super many presents today, partly due to not seeing anybody, but also because most people are donating to the trampoline fund so we can get a big one when we move house. Because T and I were also just putting money in the pot we didn't buy her any new toys for her birthday (not that we need more stuff in this house), but we did get the bag of toys out of the loft that M has outgrown, and so she had a wonderful morning playing with those. They included a ride on bug which she has really loved today, she's not quite tall enough to get a good push off forwards but she can go backwards really well!
After lunch we went over to the horse field again for a walk and then we spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden playing with the water table and the paddling pool and video chatting the grandparents.
M has enjoyed revisiting some of her old toys (although she doesn't seem to remember most of them) and she was very happy to get to play pooh sticks again so all in all I would say it was a successful birthday. I think we'll go out and do something fun once lockdown ends as well and declare it a Queen's birthday, not that we'll need the excuse really.Yesterday M and I made cupcakes and then I spent the afternoon decorating them with leaves and vines and flowers to make a Raa-Raa scene. I never normally do any proper cake decorating because I'm not that good at it and it stresses me out, but I felt that a lockdown birthday was the perfect moment to give it a try because if I didn't like the results I didn't have to show anyone, but I was actually really pleased with the result so here it is:
Happy Birthday to my Rara, we love you so much. I know you won't remember this weird quarantine birthday that you had, but I hope you've had a good day and will eventually forgive us for the second hand presents (your Daddy is a second child and he really hates that this happened).
