Day 6:
Having had a slightly dull 2 days and feeling a bit like I had lost my isolation-parenting mojo I was determined to do something new and fun on day 6. Fortunately in the morning we had another food shop delivered by friends and so we suddenly had all the ingredients for baking. We'd had a couple of bags of bread mix sitting in the pantry for months and so I decided we were going to make hot cross buns. This turned out to be a very messy task but I was pleasantly surprised by how well they actually turned out. Not beautiful in the slightest but they taste good so that's the main thing. Plus they filled pretty much the whole morning. The only one interruption was a 4-way video chat with M's best friends, which was basically just mayhem. 4 3-year-olds all shouting and trying to show each other things. But hey, they had fun. Plus it's just nice to see other people.
In the afternoon M decided she needed a trophy because she had "won" at playing football in the garden (thanks Bitz and Bob). So while I put C down for a nap Daddy was given the very important task of making a trophy for her. It's made of an empty coke bottle and lots of parcel tape, and again, not beautiful but she's very pleased with the results and we spent a happy hour or so in the garden afterwards taking it in turns to score a goal and then be presented with the trophy. It's the little things.
Movie count: who bloody knows
Day 7:
Day 7 was dominated by crafts. I had a much needed lie in (thank you T) which meant that nobody got dressed until gone 10 o'clock and by then C was ready for her morning nap. M requested to do some painting, she managed a whole 1 picture before losing interest (note to self - even painting loses it's novelty after a while). Fortunately at this point the postman arrived with the Mr Maker subscription thingy I had ordered like a full 2 weeks ago and so we spent the rest of the morning and a chunk of the afternoon cutting and glueing and making a collage in the style of Henry Matisse (apparently). I actually don't have a picture of the final result but this was part way through.
The whole mummy-having-a-lie-in-thing meant that our whole daily routine was off so we didn't do morning prayer until just before lunch (after M had done her crafts and C had had a nap) and we didn't go outside for mandatory playtime until after lunch, although the weather is distinctly chillier today so I don't think anybody's complaining.
It's currently 3.15pm as I write this so there might be more to come today but right now M is happily playing with Lego in the living room, T is working in his office and I'm sat at the kitchen table because I realised I hadn't got around to writing up yesterday yet and thought there was aa danger today wasn't going to happen either. C woke up from her afternoon nap and rather than force M to put away the Lego when she was playing so nicely I kept C in here with me in her highchair with some toys and so the whole house is feeling rather chilled and I like it. Just waiting for something to kick off again...
